intake manifold I.D.

I was trying to decode this part # on my intake ( c5ae-9425-m). It's from a 65 galaxie, but I can't make sense of the "m". Can anybody help?

Its like this on all ford part numbers everything started in 1940 so

A=40

B=50

C=60

D=70

E=80

F=90

G=00

So now you have the correct first number and the second number of your part number is the rest of the year . So c5ae-9425-m is a 1965 part /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Sorry... Wrong button...So the first eight characters are where the info is derived, and the last character "M" is of no value?

The very last digit of a Ford part number refers to it "level of change", basically, how many times the engineering department changed something in the casting.

Each change could be something as simple as the height of a casting boss, or whether or not a hole was blank drilled or tapped.

The change level started with an "a" and went throught the alphabet, sometimes more than once, resulting in the use of double letters in those cases.

C= 60s

5 is the year

"A" is a full size Ford

"E" is the engine division

So yep the intake was designed for a full size 65 or later Ford.
