I have a '76 Bronco with a 302. Normally, after warming up, the idle will "step-down" (hit the gas, etc). Mine won't step down. It stays running at high idle. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Well..,. you're going to have to "look" & physically "touch" a few things..

Carb. unknown...so pull the air filter off.

The choke operates that "butterfly" you see in the top. At the same, time the linkage moves the idle adjuster stop.

It may be stuck., or needing some oil., or the adj. screws re-set.

W/O your info. filled in., it's a guessing game at this point.

Could even be an issue with your throttle linkage...between pedal & carb.

I was having the same problem, and took it to a specialist. He let me know that the replacement choke (an electric version) was causing the issue. Went back to a traditional choke, and the problem was solved immediately.

Hope that helps.
