Okay, I just purchased a 302 for the 76 Bronco for $600. I was told it was a brand new engine which had never been put in a vehicle. I am wondering if this is a service replacement motor. The block is 80-84 vinatge based upon the E0AE casting by the starter. I can't(don't want to) take the heads off to find the casting #. I'm puzzled by other stampings/markings on the heads and block. On the top of the block behing the intake is the DB****** number, and the heads have MCH******* numbers on the ends. The heads also have tags which are stamped MOORES NC jb welded to the freeze plugs. I've attached photos of all this. My assumption at this point is that it was a service replacement motor for Terry Moore Ford in North Carolina, but I could be reading too much into the tags/stamps. I need to make sure I get the proper weight/teeth flywheel to mate up to my np435 so I won't rattle the thing to death. Any suggestions?
