i'm having trouble changing the bearings on my 94 F150. I have auto lock hubs. I got the hubs out and I have the "special tool" with the 4 prongs but I can't get the spindle nut off. The farthest I got is taking the auto lock hub out. Did I miss a step? Is there something else I need to take out first or did I get the wrong size tool (it was the only one at the store). It fits like its supposed to, but every time I turn to loosen it, it just slips and I'm afraid of damaging something.

The outer spindle nut is put on with 150 ft. lb. so you will need to hold the spindle nut tool tight while loosening it, at least until you get it to move. When replacing them,(there are 2, outer nut, locking ring, inner nut), make sure that you use the correct torque, inner nut 25 ft lb., add locking ring so it fits on the *** on the inner nut (may have to back off the nut just slightly to get the ring on), then the outer nut torqued to 150 ft. lb. Again, make sure the locking ring is on the *** of the inner nut.

Good luck,

:)>-
