Check the color of the wire running to the coil (+). In the 80's vehicles it is red with a light green stripe. You will also find that under the dash.

Good luck,

:)>-

You can also use a test light on these wires check with Ign. off then recheck with Ign. on and that will show wich one you want.

NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Pre-fab box or custom???? I have heard Kickers sound like @#$%&^ and Pyramids sound like thunder from heaven, all due to the porting or " tuning " of a box. The X-plode model #XS-L123P5 requires a sealed box of 1.15cu/ft per sub and a ported box of .82cu/ft with a port of 3" dia. x 12" long. The X-plode model #XS-L124P5B requires a sealed enclosure of .96cu/ft and a ported of 1.20cu/ft with ports measuring 3" dia x 10.875" long. What does all of this mean? The wrong porting will make an awinspiring system sound like S#$$^&. I have seen a lot of guys add amps thinking that they needed more power when all they needed was a different enclosure. This link will provide you with all the info you need to get you're subs to sound like a 10.0 on the richter scale.undefined Hope this helps

Scroll down to the bottom( please read the parameters first) and it will list enclosures by series and order. I would suggest a fourth order bandpass box,

You're enclosure should be fine, I would not try to port it. 1200 watts...................There should be a law somewhere. If you breakdown the math on you're amp 1 channel at 4 ohms you're only getting 500 rms and 750 peak!!!!! I dont know why companies are allowed to market thier products this way   So here is something for you to try ( please mind the nieghbors ) set up you're amp bridged to 1 channel 4 ohm this should give you the 500watt setting, I assume you have a box with 2 subs in it?? connect this single channel to ONE of you're subs and have a listen. Turn down the gain first though.

Here's the situation, acording to the specs you gave, You're amp puts out 200watts x2 @ 4 ohms RMS

You're subs are rated for an RMS power of 380watts @ 4 ohms RMS . So you are correct you need another amp Bridged down to 1 channel with one amp run to each sub. right now you're amp is'nt getting you're subs up to "cruising" power which is where they are designed to run. They probably sound distorted? One of you're subs at the 500 setting will sound cleaner and sharper than both subs at 200 each.

I have MTX 12 pro's linked up to 600watts RMS each ( 800watt gothic amps bridged to 600x1 ) And my fosgate ( in the middle ) runs soley as a pusher. When we take our oldest daughter to school ( she's a freshman ) The senior parking lot gets quiet!!! LOL

Please remember that a peak rating is usually calculated at 14.4 volts and down @ 2 ohms then exagerated for marketing. Not trying to be a **** but the overload on you're amp will kick out way before you ever get to hear 1200 watts. My 800s together should put out a peak of 1600. At 2 ohms together I'm lucky to get 1200. Hope some of this helps.

OK you have a two channel amp that can be bridged down to one channel right? 500 watts x 1 @ 4ohms. You're amp installation papers will show you detailed info on how to do this( generally by using one wire from a left terminal and one wire from a right terminal ) Check you're instructions before doing this to make sure you get the propper terminals!!!!! For example my Gothics use the left+ for the positive side and the right- for the negative side when running mono. All you are doing by doing this is sending the available power into one channel and putting it to one sub. No this will not cause harm or damage to the amp. You will be running a little higher than the subs RMS however you will still be under the subs peak of 1300 with plenty of room to spare.

Again it is VERY important to follow the directions for bridging that came with you're amp. Not all amps are the same. Then hook up one sub as you would normally. When bridged you will have only one + and one - coming off the amp. I will get some pics of my wiring up in about an hour if you need further help. They just happen to be out of the car...............They dont fit with the stroller.

okay so if i get another of these amps can i use the same power wire? just connect?..its 4 guage and rated like 2000-2500 watts and on the amp rem do i jsut wire them togethere to the one in the head

also im gussing when i use the rca cables to the other amo it bridges them and may change the watts?

EDIT: i hooked it up mono and it sounded a little better but i hooked em both up and raised the low boost, and imput all the way up and it sounds better...also should i turn the lpf or whatever on or off...and how high should i turn the filter ****

Stupid batteries died before I could upload pics. But as I said you're installation instructions will guide you through the install step by step. They will call it either " MONO or BRIDGED "

OK first Qs

Power wire: Yes you can connect into the same power wire, Basically making a Y make sure you have a fuse between the battery and the Y

Remote: I always go from the head unit to a toggle switch then to a fuse then to the amps, This prevents any possible shorts from getting back to the head unit. This wire can also be Y'ed to both amps.

GROUND WIRE it is VERY important to use a ground at least the same gauge as the main + wire if not bigger. Especially on high power systems.

RCA cables from the head unit to the amp or from one amp to another does nothing to the watts. My amps are set up with a line in and a line out. My RCAs go from the head unit to the first amps input then from that amps output to the other amps input and so on until all 3 are connected. The RCAs simply move the audio signal from one place to another at a very low voltage. Usually between 1.2 and 2.5 volts depending on head unit output range.

Raising the low boost measured in HZ is fine put it where you want you're bass at MID or LOW.

The input is not an adjustment, Set it at the same range as the RCA output of the head unit. Somewhere around 1.5 is a good default if the headunits output is not known. All this does is tell the amp how many VOLTS not WATTS it should be reading from the head.

LPF this switch is " LOW PASS FREQUENCIE " this is like having a built in X-over. With it on the amp only pushes the deep bass notes. If turned off the amp will push all input freq's.

Filter **** should be used to filter out distortion, I cant help you much with this one because I cant hear it :-& #036; This is how I set mine turn up the stereo to you're prefered listening volume, Come on not that loud, and adjust the filter to get the "cleanest sound"

Dont hook up two subs to an amp that is wired in mono, unless you can buy amps cheap, In mono you are telling the amp it will only have to push one sub,at a higher power, If you lie to you're amp it will live a very short life. MONO means one! Even in mono hooked up to one sub it should sound noticably different than the two subs hooked up together. If not check you're amps wiring diagram again and make sure you're wires are connected as per MFG specs.

You can also research this topic at crutchfield .com and check out the SPL DRAGS. (sound pressure level) I hope this helps let me know if you have any more Qs.

okay im looking for a ported box to match the airspace it requires but i cant find any with less than like 1.2cf or air and it says my subs need like .82..... i want the loudest deepest bass possible...will one of those wierd boxs where the subs are inside and like plexiglass covers em be louder than the kind im lookin at? also if you could link me to a good loud box id appreciate it

also i still havnt got another amp but i found this one and it seems perfect it has the bass **** ive been wanting, and at 2x 4ohms its got 400 rms which is perfect for my subs..only thing is its factory refurb, and idont know about the brand? its going under the seat so looks dont matter
