When the secondaries open at 4000, can you feel it? It seems that the secondaries would be open much sooner than that unless you have some vacuum issues with the motor. Does it idle smooth? Big camshaft? I would call Holley with that question.

The silver spring will allow the secondaries to open sooner (for light trucks) and increase performance.

The black spring (installed at the factory) will force the secondaries to open later (for heavier trucks) and increase fuel economy.

For tuning check this out: (page 12)

Why do you want them to open at 2500 RPM? Unless you are racing and spend most of your time at wide open throttle, that is too close to normal cruise RPM. They should only start to open as the demand starts to exceed the primary's ability to supply air. I'd suggest you get a book on whatever carb you are using and read up on the subject. If it is a Holley you can easily find that at a book store or local library.

Here is a link that may help you http://www.bob2000.com/carb.htm

Good luck,

I second this. If your looking to burn a lot of fuel then you should look at getting the same carb with a mechanical secondary.
