My '73 EB has drum brakes that I want to convert to disc. I've seen the conversion kits but I can't help but think that has to be another way. This may sound dumb but wouldn't brakes from an other Ford vehicle, like a F150, work?

Couldn't I find a junked Ford and take what I need? Any done this?

I'm new so be easy on me.

You can replace from the knuckle out from a junk yard F150. This can get spendy as well.

Or get the backing plate and spindle from an 85 Chevy Blazer and use ford disc/hub and callipers.

I used the complete conversion kit from "WildHorses". That way I had everything I needed and it went on without a hitch. I had talked with other folks who used the "piece it together" format and the money is about the same in the long run.
