I replaced my heater core that was by-passed by another owner- can someone tell me if the heater core has an in or out side to the motor or which hose needs the vent in the hose for getting the air out?

If someone could let me know how the hoses are hooked up to the motor from the heater core on a 76 Bronco that would be great.

If anyone is doing this I replaced the ripped up or eaten-up accordian intake with the hard plastic one from Bronco Graveyard- It fits and lookes great with my newly painted heater.

Thanks in advance

Ray

I just bypassed my leaky heater core (1971). I bought the bronco used, and when I got it the heater core was hooked up already. As you are standing on the passenger side fender, looking into the engine compartment, the hose closest to you (passenger side) was connected to front of the engine, and the connection farthest (driver side) was connected to the top.

It really doesn't matter which way it is hooked up and you shouldn't need a way to bleed the air. With 5.0 or 5.8 engines they are usually hooks them up as Guy said. When looking at the core unit *******, the hose from the water pump hooks to the left one and the right one returns to the intake manifold water connection just behind the water neck, but the other way around would work just as well. If you want to put an air bleeder in, put it on the return hose to the intake manifolded, but the pressure from the water pump should push the air out. In any hot water heat system bleeders are installed on the return side.

Good luck,

Like Seabronc said, "It really doesn't matter"! Theres no specific in or out on a heater core, just like a mini radiator; It even has a fan!
