Hard and Soft Top?

Hey guys, I am new to the forum and I am still looking for a Bronco. Will be my first, but I have always loved them.. Now I am trying to find something in the 94-96 range in decent shape that runs well. One of the questions I have is whether or not you can switch back and for between having a hard top and a soft top? I love the ability to pull the top off, but if it rains, I want to be ablt to toss the top and and not worry about it...and then switch the hard top back on for the winter months....

any help you can give me would be great...also, if you know anyone selling a decent used Bronco, under $4000, let me know....thanks guys...

As far as a decent & tight Bronco for $4K or less, Well, I can't help ya /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

As far as the whole Soft top thing goes, to be honest it depends. some companies offer an easy "rack" type system that's essentially a rack that bolts onto the rear body-rails where the cap attached. The rails that bolt into the cap location offer you an easier way to attach the top. If you DON'T go this way then what you're looking it is drilling & installing several dozen snaps into the body so that you can attach the top whenever you want. This works well for plenty of guys but for anyone wanting a clean installation without 30 or 40 holes being drilled in their shell it's a different game. It's really hard to say what you want and what's best. It's better to let everyone decide for them self but you can't always do that yourself.

When you get into softtops you need to start deciding if you prefer the square top design or the fastback. Fastbacks are easier and cheaper to obtain. Squarebacks take some time since there aren't any companies out there *currently* selling a squareback softtop. As of this moment there *aren't* ANY companies selling square back soft tops, if you want a new softtop then you're buying one from softtops.com and that's that. Plenty of guys out there willing to help with the work but there just isn't anything available outside of a custom boat or convertible shop and those are *never* cheap.

well, I got a Bronco..all said and done, with registration and insurance and all in, just under $3500 and she is in great shape....got a few mods planned that involve a decent amount of Rhino lining and some stereo/speaker upgrades, but beyound that she is going to be my daily drive with a removable top...

back to the question at hand...I would prefer the fastback design...any ideas on where to go for that, or just keep my eyes on Ebay and Craigslist for the most part...???
