gas smell

I purchase a 71 bronco about a year back, it is in great shape..My question is I have a faint smell of gasoline frpm the area around my filler cap...It is not constant, just wondering if this is from the vent lines and is common. When I first got the bronco the rear gas tank leaked and I replace it and all the lines, except the filler hose.. Just wondering..

Yep.., this is common..,

Full tanks & sloshing seem to make it more noticable.

These tanks have a large vent hose coming fr. the top/side of tank (back up to fuel filler tube) for air to escape while filling tank.

The caps are vented also for expansion/suction inside tank.

(Some tanks have the small tubes runn'n to the canister, etc.)

With all these tubes/hoses clean & snug.., you should be fine.
