I have a Holley 4160 which is the one with a metering plate and primary metering block only, single pumper. Today I bought the rebuild kit from my parts store from Holley to replace jets, power valve, gaskets, etc. The kit did not have the metering plate gasket so I re-used the old one which seemed fine.

When I installed the carb. after replacing parts on my intake it started right up then had gas coming out the the top pf the carb, then engine cutoff Not sure where I went wrong and seemed like everything looks fine after checking. Could this be a float height issue, jets also look like same size as ones that were replaced. Any ideas?

I would first try and pick up a new metering plate gasket. Your using the "eye" judgement on things. Usually when I do this, something is wrong. When it comes to a carb issue its better to KNOW if its right rather than looking and guessing

It could also be the float adjustment. If it is not set by the instructions you received with the kit, it may not shut off the gas to the fuel bowl/s (both have a float). In that case it will overfill until it comes out the vent.

Good luck,

:)>-
