It is ******* the transfer case but as long as your easy on it and its not for too terribly long it will be fine. I did it for a few months. A friend of mine used to do front wheel drive brake stands in his Blazer, quite funny to watch.

Yeah, it will work. I had to do that quite a while back... a drive from Colo. Springs to Ft. Collins, CO. About 150 miles. My rear driveshaft went out in the middle of a blizzard and I had to take it off at the side of the highway or I would have been eating snow for a couple of days. I wouldn't recommend doing it for your full time travel, but if you gotta get from point A to point B, it should be ok.

Yup and for future you can twin stick the t-case so you can have just front wheel or rear wheel drive when needed. Of course if you break a shaft it has to come off.

I'm curious as to why it's not advisable for long term to just leave it in front wheel drive? Also, is it difficult to remove the driveshaft?

Go real easy on the gas pedal. I used the front shaft around the neighborhood waiting on my new rear shaft. I punched my new rebuilt 302 in the back yard and poped my front pumpkin. After replacing front pinion and ring gear I decided to go real easy until the rear driveshaft arrived.

Good Luck!

The transfer case is designed to have equal pressure to keep it happy, don't 100% know why, thats the way they were designed. Kinda like a woman, gotta do certain things to keep them happy, dont know why, just gotta do it.
