On my 87 Bronco XLT i am installing a new 351w...replacing the 302, which was not the original motor...In bolting up the exhaust manifold i am told NO gasket exists for either the heat riser or the ****** area.

I will not be using the heat riser but cannot find an adapter to swap it with, so the flap is removed and the holes brazed up, but have a hard time accepting that there is no gasket for the connection between it and the manifold.

Is there one i can use...or is it REALLY unneccesary?

No, the pieces are designed to fit without a gasket. That is why one has a crown and the other a bell shape.

Good luck,

What about the flat suface between the heat ****** and the manifold? Seems odd that there would be no gasket there?
