Engine shot out!

Well ,it's official 302 bit the dust!Oil pump drive looks like a corkscrew!Does any one have an opinion,as to what to replace it with,or a great place to buy a crate engine from?Do strokers run rougher,idle rougher are they more difficult to get parts for?How about cast iron heads vs aluminum,is one more reliable than the other?Where do you draw the line ?I want reliability,but still want drivability and horsepower?torque?Damn I'm depressed,took me 18 months to scrape the money together to fix the rear end ,and get the parts for the front gear swap.If you want to end this painfull suffering,please send new crate engine.

Are you talking about the multi sided rod that runs the distrib. ?

Maybe just a dist. issue...?

But if eng. is toasted, then yah, there's long & short blocks, new & reman. out there. Local parts stores, etc.

The cam gear drives the distributor gear which turns the hex shaft that turns the oil pump so if the hex shaft looks like a cork ***** then more than likely the oil pump locked up and depending on how far you drove it after that will determine the extent of the damage . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

cast iron-heavy as ****....aluminum- light wieght. try out cobraengines.com they have some pretty **** engines. I'm stroking my 302. /

The oil pump could be jamed (maybe debris) & may need clearing or replacing.

May be just that simple & eng. may be good to go for a while yet.
