ENGINE IDLEING HIGH

AFTER I'M DRIVING AND THEN WHEN I NEED TO BRAKE, THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AT 1200 TO 1500 RPM'S INSTEAD OF DROPPING DOWN TO 600 OR 700 RPM'S. wHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?? THROTTLE SENDSOR??? HOW DO I CHECK IT??i JUST PUT NEW BRAKES ON AND DON'T WANT TO REPLACE AGAIN. i HAVE 156000 MILES ON THE ENGINE, 351W EFI.THANKS

aa low-voltage condition or bad TPS should throw a CEL (check engine light). Also check for any vacuum leaks, and if the vacuum advance on the distributor is working.
