95' 5.8L, My check engine light came on so i pulled the codes and it sayed "Low EGR flow" and "EGR Higher voltage than expected" this didnt tell me much so i hooked up a vaccum hose to EGR valve and pumped it a few times and the engine stalled (Supposed to happen if valve works) so I followed the hose to the EGR Vaccucm Solenoid and replaced it because it wasnt pulling any air. When I left the auto parts store the Check Engine light came back on........So I pulled the codes once again and the same problem.......now im lost and dont know what to do.......also at Idle it seems like my truck is missing........VERY BAD missing like a jolt every few seconds....

Any help Greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There are two possibilities I can think of off hand. 1. the position sensor is not functioning correctly. or 2. There is a carbon build up on the ports and the flow is being restricted. Carbon is usually the reason they fail.

Good luck,

You wont pull any vacuum from that solenoid at idle. that should only kick in under certain load conditions. The CEL problem could be caused byt he sensor mounted on the EGR itself. Although the valve works, the sensor may not be sending the correct signal to the ECM, causing the dummy light to come on. If the enging dies when vac. is applied, and the solenoid is working, thats pretty much all thats left. Unless 1: the ECM isnt triggering the solenoid on (unlikely) or 2: there is a crack in the plastic line running from the solenoid to the valve. (very possible) Its a simple system as far as they go these days, so your not far from resolving it. Hope this helps you out some.
