I am installing a new carb, intake manifold, distributer, etc is it necessary to replace the ported vacuum switches on a 74 / 302. One of them is capped and the other has only one vacuum line and one water hose running to it.

The question is can I just cap these off without effecting all the new equipment, or do the still need to be there?

thanks

If you want the functions they control to work properly then yes you need to replace them. I'm trying to visualize one that has a water line running to it and can't come up with one. I'm not at home where I can look them up in my maintenance manual. Post a picture of your vacuum diagram. Some functions are for better running characteristics, like cold start and run,

Good luck,

:)>-
