Hello,

Everything was going great with the restore until recently.

I lost all power to start, turn on lights, radio, etc.

I've checked fuses, connectors and battery. I have 5 fuses in the box instead of the 2 they show on the wiring schematic.

The wiring harness seems to be intact, the problem came on with no notice.

I'm wondering if a bad ignition switch could be taking everything to ground? Power is present with key in off position.

When you turn the headlight on I lose the incoming 12 volts at the fuse box, like a short to ground.

I'm going to start pulling connector and see if I can find the short.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Sorry Joe, I don't have any documentation that goes back that far, so all I can do at this point is give you a little encouragement. It sounds like you know what you are doing but are just looking for a shortcut. Seems to me that you are going to have to start sectioning out parts of the wiring diagram.

Have fun... and good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement it will be a process of elimination.

My 69 turned over once and went dead couldn't even jump it.

That's why I wondered how much the ignition switch has or could be a problem?

If I knew how to take it out would help a bunch?

Onward and upward.

Stick a paper-clip in that 'lil hole & turn the key to access. then the lock will come out.

Un-do the benzel & the switch will come out the back. (be sure to un-hook the bat. first)

BUT.., a remote starter can hook to the sol. to by-bass the key. (good test)

Could be a fried starter causing the prob. as well.

1st. thing..., is the bat. 100%...??

Sounds like a short to me.... Mine did that and I found a short going to my AMP gauge on my dash. I would go thru your harness and look for loose connections. Also I used to arc the solenoid with a ***** driver to bypass the starter in my 240z, maybe try that. If it starts you know it is your starter!
