Well first off i broke the u joint on the axle shaft the first one out of the diff on the right side now ive always know for axle shafts to pull right out but this one doesnt the other two shafts do now i havent met or talked to anyone whose ever disassembled this front end and i figured this being a bronco forum that one ofyall may have now im pretty sure on how it works its a 3rd member and will unbolt and all pull out as one piece all i need to know is it worth it is there any precations i need to take while doing this and is it a pain? also would like an opinnion on putting on a lincoln locker or leaving it open

Most of the Dana44 TTB front axles have a clip inside the differential holding the passenger-side inner axleshaft in place. To remove the axleshaft, you first must separate it from the outer shaft on the passenger-side. Then, unbolt the "chunk" or gear housing, taking the inner shaft with it, out from the back of the axle I-beam. Once it's out, you can easily remove the clip on the axleshaft. Hope that helps, JSM84

Any type of full locker is going to be much harder on the shafts and u-joints, as I ran a full spool in the front of my 84 Bronco. A Trac-Lok or Aussie locker seems to be a bit easier, but still helps when you need true four-wheel drive.

thanks for the help yeah ive been talking to a couple of my friends and i think im going to keep the front open and go ahead and weld up the rearend see how it performs and if i need a little bit more then ill go ahead and do it in the front too thanks for the help
