Well.. i am getting close. I purchased a beat-up 69 Bronco about 9 months ago and the restoration of the body is nearly complete but now comes the engine which I have limited knowledge. I find that the old girl is very cold blooded at the start, preferring to stall if gas not constantly applied. I have played with the idle but don't want to set it to high since it runs fine once it is warmed up. The engine is a 351 and I was wrapping the headers yesterday and saw a tube coming off the back header and was guessing it was supposed to be hooked to the choke that appears to hooked up to nothing. Does anyone know if this is true? is it as simple as running a hose from the carb through the header to the spring that is on the back of the choke? Any advice is much appreciated... Also, if anyone has some good top down pictures of what this might look like that would be even better. Thanks in advance....

Welcome to the Zone > . How about posting a couple of strategic pictures of what you are talking about. Do you have a clue as to what carb is on the engine? If it runs fine after it is warmed up, then I would say the heat riser is probably at fault. The function of the heat riser is to warm the intake gases a bit to help them vaporize better when the engine is cold. Cold start and run problems are quite often caused by a failing heat riser system. I'm not sure what you have, but it probably is a mechanical one rather than a vacuum operated system. The heat riser is normally mounted on the driver side, (US), at the base of the exhaust manifold. Since you said you were wrapping your headers, you may not have one installed. Pictures would help.

Good luck,

:)>-
