Hey guys, I'm about to chop the top off of my 87 B2. I've read the tuturial on rangerstation, but I was just seeing if there was something someone did differently that turned out better. I'll take just general tips too if anyone's got some.

i read that one too before i chopped mine. hmm... tips well before i cut mine i took all the plastic out of the back and the headliner out. then you can really see whats goin where supports are and kinda get an idea of where you want to make your cuts. next i used bedliner paint and covered everything inside(im trying to keep my BII looking good if yours is a beater you dont have to do this). next i unbolted the windows and gently pushed on each corner then pushed a little harder on each corner till it seperated. my windows were both replaced though so yours might not come out too easy. i drew a straight line were i wanted to make my cuts with a sharpie then i went to town with a sawzall. the rear supports are double thick and hard to cut you need a longer blade if you want it straight. in the write up on the ranger station he supported things with wood and stuff id suggest leaving the hatch closed all windows out and cut through the rear pillars and then through the hatch. then open the now top half of the hatch and unbolt it. this will make taking the top off easier and lighter. then cut across your ceiling. i cut behind the dome light so i could leave that brace. then you can remove your top. then obviously you need a roll bar cause the body flexes pretty bad when offroading. i still didnt get one in mine yet but i heard the jegs 4 point ranger kit fits in BII's with minor adjustments. thats probable what im goin to get. i also wrote a write up on making a soft top its on broncoii.org though under the tech submissions or check out my pics on cardomain. if you have any questions just let me know.
