If its rusted through then bondo alone will hold up for about a month. You will have to cut out all the rotted metal that is rusted through and take off any surface rust. Then replace the the hole with new metal. I used metal I found laying around the farm and rivets to hold the new metal on and used bondo to cover everthing up. I also grinded down the heads of the rivets to hide them better. Many people hate bondo, but it really is a cheap fix. I fixed rotted out sections myself with limited experience and it has been about six months and everything is holding up fine. I don't know if you've ever done carpentry work, but it's just like patching up drywall in a house, except you're using metal and bondo intsead of wood, drywall, and plaster.

Remeber that Bondo will not hold to air. This means that if you have holes rusted through, you need to fix or cover them so the Bondo has something to hold to. I've used wire mesh, stainless steel tape, even fiberglass. None have held up for more than a year, evewn less on a trail rig. First impact and the filler falls off. I've had a bit better succes with fiberglass-filler, which has glass mixed in with the Bondo. If you can't cut away the rusted metal, at least treat it with an inhibitor like OSPHO or POR-15 to slow the progress of the rust. I've been impressd with the 3M body seam adhesive instead of welding for patch panels. JSM84
