backup lights on 78 Bronco

i have a 78 w/400 & C5 tranny and the backup lights won't come on...when i first got it they worked a time or two. She's in pretty good shape overall. the Haynes manual doesn't mention how to check it or where it is.

Yes! and the truck will start in neutral also...
