So I'm really getting tired of searching ebay and craigs list everyday for a soft-top that's going to end up costing at least $500 anyways. Anyone out there ever attempted or heard of someone making their own? I searched around the archives a little bit and didn't see anything. I know there'd be a lot of fabrication, but it 's really very similar to a top on a boat. I know there are thousands of companies out there that make boat tops, so I could probably get them to canvas if I build the frame and mounting points.

Just throwing some crazy ideas out there...Let me know what yall think.

a guy i work with took a bronco II that rolled, cut the top off to make it like a big bronco and had a custom soft top made. If you buy the right tools you can cut the canvas, and take it to an upholstery shop for stitching and window install. you can buy a rivet tool to do the snaps yourself. ive also seen a bolt in back plate that turns a bronco into a truck. not sure how it seals though.
