One of my Broncs has an underdash aftermarket A/C, mfg. by Clardy Mfg. here in my hometown of Fort Worth, Tx. Worked when I bought the the truck but the compressor switch was sometimes finicky - took the old one out and cleaned the contacts, stretched the contact spring a bit and it worked for a short time, then didn't. I found a NOS switch and thought my problems were over, but after installation the compressor still doesn't come on. I have looked online for a manual but it seems that Clardy is banckrupt and I am hesitant without a manual to run a 12v lead from my battery and begin touching contacts for fear of shorting out the entire system.
I have checked the connectors with the ignition on and haven't found 12v yet?
It is a three pole resistor type switch with one black, one white and another black terminal lead that is double insulated. Got nailed by 480v when I was a kid and vowed never to mess with electricity again. That vow has cost me through the years! Any suggestions? Is there a rule of thumb that White is always the hot leg?
