92 Third brake lamp

Walking around the truck and looking for cheap things to do to improve the little things. So I thought the dull 3rd brake lamp/exterior lamp lens would be a good start. I just about had a heart attach when looking at LMC's truck parts. 240 bucks for the assembly. WOW!. Does anybody know where to get just the lens or assembly that cost less then 2 tanks of gas? I'm willing to go maybe a 1/4 tank.

I've seen some of the forums about cleaning the plastic up working with super fine sand paper and then a polishing agent. The problem is the 3rd brake light lens is not smooth. The cover is as rough on the outside as it looks. Not sure how to polish it up.

If it is really bad, I guess you don't have much to lose by trying a polishing compound with a toothbrush, followed by a plastic polishing agent.

It's really not that bad just one of those things. I think I'll pull it off and give the tooth brush a try.

But I did find one for a tank and a half.
