Ok, so check it out:

When I start the quarter horse (b2), it fires up and warms up normally. Giving it a little gas in the warm up stage, however, makes it want to forcefully idle back down. Upon driving, it hesitates under take off, then kicks hard into normal power. Shift into second, it hesitates, bucks a couple of times, then kicks again. Sometimes it'll do it in third.

I've given it a once-over, and everything looks to be in working condition, except for the exhaust leak from the head-to-header gasket. The stupid bore for the bolt is slightly chewed up, and the bolt won't tighten up completely snug. It leaks a little, but not that bad. You can even put your fingers right up to the gasket ****** and feel the exhaust without it burning you (up to about 10 seconds, of course). There's another leak right under the pedals, next to the tranny, where the slip fit joint is. It turns out the slip fit is a little off-round, and it leaks from about a 1/8 gap.

I can't figure out if the leaks are throwing off the 02 sensor, which should still be good, or something to do with fuel regulation, like the regulator or in-tank pump. After it warms up fully to 193 degrees F, it runs fine (except for the annoying leaks in the exhaust). The exhaust leaks haven't really given me any problems until about 5 weeks ago. It's really starting to cram a pine stick up my britches.

Can anybody tell me if they've had a similar problem/solution?

thanx.

Well it is a Bronco isn't it :)) . Sorry, couldn't help myself :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . Not a B2 guy but it sounds more like a problem with vacuum controlls. Especially those functions that are supposed to make it run good while cold or a function that is not supposed to be comming on until it is up to temp. Is this a carbed or FI engine?

Good luck,

:)>-

Hello!

I have a 86 B2 and when I bought it it would buck sometimes on takeoff.

I replaced the Cap and rotor.

I checked all wiring connections and found one unplugged. I think it was the o2 sensor,

I am not sure. I dont think that would cause it to buck, It would just run rich or lean

I found that both grommets on the valve covers were wasted and leaking. I replaced those.

Runs fine now!

Good luck!
