I just logged on this site, and wanted to say hello to all of the 78/79 Bronco owners.
I had a 78 about 12 years ago, sold it, and regreted it ever since.
In the past 5 years I've been collecting various 78/79's (five to be exact) just trying to reproduce the one I sold.
So far I'm doing a complete "frame-off" resto on my 78 custom.
I'm repairing/replacing just about everything on this vehilce.
I blasted the frame and repainted it two years ago. I also blasted all of the susspension, and driveline components, and painted them as well. This summer I rebuilt the np435 tranny, and the np205 transfer case.
This week I'm working on the front rear. I blasted, and painted it. Now I'm in the process of installing the seals, bearings, and gears. Within the next few weeks I plan to do the same to the 9" rear.
If anyone has tackled any of this, please post. I'd like to hear about your progress. I'm trying to have this vehicle in the mud and on the road by winter! P.S. I'm doing all of the work myself.
