Just bought a 69 with a 302 and c4 auto. this bronco was origionaly a 3 on the tree. I have a 68 1/2 ton with a four speed, and have heard you must buy an adapter or find one from a 6 cyl bronco. I don't understand why the I6 had an adapter and the v8 didn't. The 1/2 ton I have for parts has the crappy transfer case with no four low, so I assume the tranny is the 28 spline light duty New Process. I need to do a little more research and make sure this is the right tranny. I also have an 83 Bronco with the I6 and a four speed. Anyone know what tranny this is? Would it work? I also found a toploader in a 72 Mustang at a local salvage yard. I have read that this is a popular swap, but it doesn't have the granny low. What are my options? Will all the clutch linkage work out of the 1/2 ton, or are these parts Bronco specific? Any help would be great, thanx.
