I know the Bronco vendors sell an oilpan that'll work with a 351W, but I'd like to save a little money. Is there any model of pickup that I could try to find an oilpan from in a salvage yard (or even at a local parts store)? Could I just modify my 302 pan w/ a wire welder?

There are plenty of vendors selling the pan you need. For the most part I seem to recall that what you need is the rear-sump pan that the E-vans used. I'm sure S_Bolt or someone else will backstop me on this one but the easiest thing will be to just pickup a swap kit and be done with it. A salvaged oilpan & MIG really isn't the way to go if you want to do a decent conversion. Give it some thought & ask a lot of opinions before you start cutting & welding.
