My bronco does not seem to shift into drive. It will run up to 25mph and the tach reads 3000rpm. It will not run any higher than this. Any ideas what the problem may be?

check color of fluid. if its discolored (brownish) or smells burnt, its probably overheated caused by clutch pack or band failure and may need to be checked out. Ever thought about checking the modulator?

Is it an automatic ? Last summer I had a very similar problem with my 88'. I was convinced the tranny was smoked but when I pulled it I found that the flywheel was broken. It had started with cracks between all of the flywheel bolts that eventually connected and sheared. This effectively turned my 1-piece flywheel into a 2-piece flywheel with the small inner part being bolted to the crank and the large outer part bolted to the torque converter. It would grab enough to spin the TC a little and I could get up to 10-15mph but I'd be taching out at 3K. It worked pretty well in reverse though. Don't know if that's what you're looking at but it might be worth considering. Unfortunately there's no way to visually inspect it without pulling the tranny. Here's my original post with photos:

I don't know sht about a C6 but my C4 had a vacuum line loose and it kept it from shifting into 3rd. Might check that.

My thoughts exactly. Check you vaccum lines and the shift modulator.

Might be the vacuum line but typically a blown modulator will produce gray smoke from the tailpipe as the engine sucks up & burns the transmission fluid thru the torn diaphragm and back up the vacuum line to the intake. Also, with a bad/inoperative modulator valve the tranny won't shift out of first on it's own when the gear selector is placed in Drive, but if you manually shift it from Drive down to 2nd the tranny *will* shift up into 2nd but you won't be able to get into 3rd. Based on the brief description given I don't think vacuum or the modulator are issues here but perhaps the original poster will clarify or add more info.

If the modulator valve IS replaced be sure to note the color of the stripe around it and get a matching one from the parts guy.

Thanks guys. I have spoken to numerous people and they also think it is the vacuum line or the modulator. I'll update you when I get it fixed. Thanks again

I got the problem fixed. The transfer case was not disengaging. It would not shift all the way into 2H.
