Best advice I can give is to keep it in a controlled environment. I know that sounds radical but it really isn't that hard to do. What you need is a good dehumidifier (garden hose attached) & hooked up to a timer. It won't have to run ALL the time. Usually 3-4 hours per day in a well-sealed shop will be good enough. MOISTURE IS YOUR ENEMY!! Also, I strongly advise you to run treated fuel thru the carb - we're talkin "Sta-Bil" here. If the engine is already pulled then go ahead & pull the carb and drain it and blow it out with compressed air (some disassembly required). Don't worry about draining the oil. OIL IS YOUR FRIEND. If you follow these simple steps you will have a rather easy time starting it again later when you get ready to. Oh yeah, don't cover the engine with plastic on the engine stand. That leads to condensation. A simple sheet will be better - it "breathes".
