I have a chance to buy a 1968 bronco for $500, its been siting for 8-10 years, the motor is not locked up it has 289 3 speed has some rust on passenger door and tailgate, floorboards seem solid every things original except the 3 on the tree was moved to the floor the guy said it had close to 300hp but said rear main was leaking so he drove it in and parked it under a tree, has no back seat all glass, good seats have some rips Iam 16 and want a bronco for a project and was wondering if this sounds like a good deal or if i should wait for a better deal. and its close too any info would help

thanks Joe

Yes, buy it up fast before someone else does.  You won't find another deal like that.

BUY IT! I just bought my 69 bronco for $800 and it's been sitting ******* in the Arizona desert since 1978....The gas in the tank is older than I am...and yours sounds like it's somewhat better shape, go for it

Congratulations!!! You are on your way to being one of the many proud bronco owners. There is nothing better than buying your first bronco. You will never go to anything else once you get that bad boy going. Good Luck.

This is a deal that only comes once in a life time. Here in TN i picked my 74 EB up for 1200. With nothing inside, no seats or anything. It had no front drive shaft and some old suspension lift with about an inch or travel. Couple thousand dollars later and i still have alot to do. Buy it your crazy not to.

ok thanks after it warms up we are going to go see if we can pull it out and get a better look at the frame because we cant see the frame now because the bronco has settled over the years. where are the major rusting places so i can know where to look and if there is any other things i should look for

thanks joe

Check the frame to be sure its not rusted out or you'll be doing a frame off restoration. Surface rust isn't enough to worry about. Not sure how much work you plan on but frame off can be lots of work, time and you need plenty of space.

The floors are always a rust problem at the seams. You can buy replacement floor boards and weld them in. The rockers under the doors rust but I cut mine out and replaced with rock skis.

Check all wheel wells and the rear bed for rust. For $500 you can't really go wrong. If its way more work than you need, maybe you can do some simple changes to get it running and sell so you can get one with less work.
