As my drill sergeant would say, any ideas what general area that is?

Well at least now I’ve got a nice access opening, but she started briefly before I dropped the tank, that looks like major heat there!

Bummer. These PCMs are dropping like flys. Hope you get a new one soon.

I’ve noticed no one saying run out to the local auto parts, but as I am on a time restraint, guess I’m gonna have to try?

I’m curious about the real hot spot and what might have caused it?

O'reilly should have what you need. You'll need your VIN.

That’s who I’m gonna try
Ordered the PCM today supposedly ready to go 5.8 and the E40D my VIN is for a 5.0. Shouldn’t the program be fine why do they need the VIN as their system let them order it off of the engine & transmission. Was so hoping to hear her run, about to be back to bikes and a non running Bronco

O'reilly doesn't need the VIN but the company they get the PCMs from needs it so they know what to program. Just found out the other day some info:

If you have a different engine and Trans then factory then you might need a "MasterPro Electronics Engine Control Computer" and those don't require a VIN to order.

Picked up the PCM/EEC Monday the Cardone site only lists 2 versions for the 93 with the 351 & E40D. One with federal emissions for $130-140.00 & California emissions for $240-260.00. Don’t have a lot of miles yet but she is in line with the other two girls that want all my money!

JTA, did you consider getting your ECM repaired? There are plenty of repair houses listed on the Internet and the cost might be far less than a new one.

If you look at the photos, it looks like the original board had enough damage nothing could fix it.

You are probably right.

I remember taking apart the ECM from our Bronco II (A4LD trans) which stopped shifting into OD (4th gear) and found a transistor which had failed. I replaced the transistor with a generic one and it was a pleasant surprise when I subsequently had all 4 gears again.
