Here’s an odd one: We installed an OEM cassette player into our ‘96 Bronco. Everything works great, except when I put in a cassette, it will not play sound out of the driver side speakers. When it’s set to radio, it plays out of all the speakers, but when the cassette is in, it only plays out of the passenger side. Thanks.

Been a while, but I think the means the head is bad, or mis aligned. Maybe call a couple local repair shops see if anyone works on them anymore?

Agreed, sounds like a trip to the rebuilder. There are a few online, as such.
Was messing with my radio the other day in the rig. Am/Fm plays halfway decent. Adjustments work ok. Not tried the cassette deck yet. Will have to choose a not-so-valuable test subject from the vintage archives & see what happens.
Good luck, Mjf

Thanks. On another forum, they suggested cleaning the heads in the tape player. I ordered one of the old school cassette cleaners. I’m going to give that a shot first. I appreciate the input.

The cassette cleaner hasn’t worked so far, but I’m going to continue to use it a few more times. There is sound coming out of the driver side speakers when the cassette is playing, but it is very low. Are there different speakers wires for the cassette vs the radio? Could it be a loose connection?

Negative on the different wires. That would be something that I have never seen before, and on a factory installed unit- no way. The radio/cassette switching is done internally by the unit mechanisms.
Mine is a terminal case. Messed with it while ago and a tape wouldn't even go in halfway. Found a chunk of metal jammed down in there and dug it out. Now the radio won't even play, so I guess the thing was jacked up years ago. Another bridge to cross as time allows.
By your description, I'd guesstimate is time to send off to a repair center as well.
It does leave the door open for more modern options.
Update: 11/6
New cd unit on tap with all the modern features. Never had any experience with Boss audio before, but for the Ebay price, don't see where there's a wrong to it.
