I bought a used NP208 for my truck and just got it bolted to the transmission and rear driveshaft in like 2 hours ago. I looked in the owners manual and it says the 208 holds 4-1/2 quarts, I was fillin it up and it only took 3-1/4 quarts, it didn make any noise when i drove it in 2hi, i havent put it in 4wheel yet because the front is still out. Im goin to check it tomarrow but does the level go back down after youve run it ith fresh fluid?

Not usually but you never know. recheck it in the morning and see. Regardless of what's written where it's full when the fluid runs back out the fill hole. Keep the ATF level with the fill hole & it'll be ok.

Not unless you have a seal problem. Ditto on Dave's comment on the fluid level.

Good luck,

:)>-
