Hi Guys, I am just in a state....

I live here "in Crapy Calif." with all the EPA sh&^. I an going to get the Bronco running But I am thinking

of replacing the cast iron manifolds and go to headers. I have headers on my 71 Chevelle and run the flow masters

I tellyou they are Holding up to the 500 hp and keep her quiet!!!

But I really don't want noise with the Bronco. I just want to keep the thing cool and putting the headers will help

Well, what do you think???

Thanks! John

You can run headers and also have it quiet. Run an exhaust similar to the factory system (one w/several bends that goes over the rear axle and exits behind the tires) and use quiet mufflers. It WILL be a *bit* louder & deeper in tone but not insanely so. As for keeping it cool I would *strongly* recommend something like ceramacoating or jet-hotting the headers to add to their lifetime and dramatically cut down on the heat generated

You could take a page from the factory setup and use both a muffler AND a resonator in the exhaust, that would definately keep it quiet.

For some reason, headers and noisy exhaust seem to go together. What would you be thinking of putting behind them?

Good luck,

:)>-

Arrrgh, yeah. As usual Fred's right (Damnit). While I stand by the statement that it's *possible* to run headers and have a quiet exhaust, if having a reasonably quiet & close to stock sounding truck are the priorities then stick with the manifolds and be done with it. Besides that you won't ever have to deal with a blown header gasket.

I dont worry about the header gaskets, I run copper gaskets they are expensive but are well worth their weight.

plus if they ever do ***** I can take them to a recycler and get a buck or two for them. LOL// thanks !! John
