If you already have a dual exhaust, would you be able to tell much of a difference in the tone??
Yes, just how much is hard to quantify or describe but swapping from stock manifolds (even the "tubular" manifolds on some of the Mustangs) to headers always seems to change the tone. It becomes beeper, louder and more "aggressive". The headers give you a baseline and from there you tune the sound with the mufflers. Now for MY money the best way to go is to add the headers and then use Supertrapp mufflers.
SuperTrapps install right on the very end of the exhaust just like an exhaust tip, BUT they are the only "tunable" muffler that I know of. SuperTrapps have a cover that bolts obver the end and there are disks between the muffler body and the cover. By changing the number of disks you can change the tone & volume of the exhaust. They look pretty damn good but more importantly thay allow you to tune the sound of your exhaust without swapping out the entire muffler and you're able to do it in your driveway in 30 minutes. If you don't like the sound then you change the # of disks and try it again. You can try 5 or 6 combinations in an afternoon. Take a look at them and give it some thought.

I've run these on almost every truck that I spent the time & $$$$ on having custom exhaust done to. The number of disks makes a *real* difference and you really CAN tune the *sound* of your exhaust. They're cool as $hit and I strongly recommend them. With regular mufflers you're stuck with the sound until you change them and if you've done your exhaust properly then it's welded and it's a bitch to change mufflers. I LOVED the SuperTrapps because you could change the sound SO much and you never had to cut or reweld anything once they were in place. I don't work for these guys or have ANY financial stake in the company, I just LOVE the way they let you tune the sound to something you like without jumping thru a bunch of hoops.
