Dana 20 won’t allow 4wd High!

Hi all. My 1971 with theDana 20 will not go into 4wd high. All the rest works fine. The rail on drivers side does not appear to slide fore and aft like the passenger side rail. Might that be the problem… from lack of use?

Thanks for the video. Bit confusing but I guess the detent work/adjustment/upgrade helped.
Will pull the detent out today to see if that helps first

best bet? geta 'exploded diagram' so as to know how it wrks. Many find the lill balls (like ball berrings) out of place/the springs gone/bent, etc

Is it also manual tranny? All going well there?

Thanks for the advice. Some local Bronco club members encouraged me to nudge the shift rail out with a crowbar to get it to move. Worked! It was stuck probably from lack of use. I also pulled the detent and will reinstall with some Marvel Mystery as recommended. Things seem to be working out ok)

U got the trick! Hook up w/boots-on-the-ground. Diagnosing is one of the hardest probs w/vehicles ("F" the scanners - ears, eyes, knowledge, feel & even taste @ times is w a y beddah. Dont throw the scanned away, of course). But remote Dx? go it one more - on da net? 4 gedda bout id. Guys w/a lill more experience, heck lots more? Nuttin like it then a visit, tele call, etc~
