I agree and it also seems to put stress on the tailgate (at least once it starts rusting) That being said though Ive always preferred the outside carrier to the inside one aesthetically.
What if his new alt is UNDER powered? On my old one (which was under a year old) the voltage would drop with each flash of the turn signal I dont remember if that was only with the headlights on or just worse with them on, either way I wasnt pleased.

ditch the body lift (or at least drop it to a 3 inch) and go suspension, that amount of body lift is unsafe and i doubt ill be the only one to chime in on that factor.

keep in mind that when they are talking about the shackle flip that is for the REAR, they do sell levelers (like 2 inches) that im pretty sure the front springs just rest on that may be able to help you sit a little higher up front..
