I agree with Bully... If it's going to be used off-road, go with a mild motor upgrade and get low gears. Maybe a NP435 and doubler to keep cost down. I had 500hp in my 74 and it only wanted to spin the tires and get stuck. My 68 is a mildly built 302 with 5:12 gears, 435/205 and it crawls like a...
I agree, just replace the front with disc's and keep the rear drums and stay manual brakes to keep cost down. if you need more stopping power, go hydroboost.
I have a Dana 70U for a rear axle on my 68 Bronco. It off a 1989 F350 I believe. I'm going to do the disc conversion but need the wheel bearing torque specs if anyone has it available to them.
Thanks!
Thats a sweet idea. Maybe a good place to stash my kid and a small bench seat. The standard half cab isn't cutting it for me unless I get a front bench seat which I don't plan on doing. Maybe one of those Ford Ranger 1/2 cab flip down seats would be cool...?
The spool will act the same as the welded gears. A locker locks under torque so going around corners they are usually locked like a spool unless coasting around the corner. The only way to get around that is to get a selectable locker so you can unlock it and only use it when needed.

I'd say the hubs are not engaging. They could be filled with water and rusted in place like mine have done after it sits. Or its not dropping into 4x4 100% as the shift arms could need to be adjusted.
Yeah, I used to add almost a pound of weights to my 38"SX to ballance them. If you have fix a flat in there, get it our or replace the tire. A tire could also be egg shaped.
All I can say is get your steering perfect before you test drive it.
I had a 351 stroked to 408 and every time I let off the clutch it would want to spin the tires. On gravel it was a hand full to even get going forwards in 2wd. I sold that project Bornco and kept with my stock 302 and low...
My buddy made a sealed box out of his driverside air box port area. To get to the area, you need to open the hood but it works great. He used a simple wing nut to hold the cover on with gasketing underneath to seal.
