    New Holland side project

Started wiring up the alternator. It is internally regulated so it should only need to be energized to charge. First problem, I hooked the batt. wire back to my acc. relay. Even when not energized it charges enough to keep the tractor running LOL, so I need to move the Batt wire to the main...

    New Holland side project

The electrical system is pretty simple. I have a "glow plug" ignition switch, that means you turn it to the acc position and it is spring loaded. You hold it there as long as you want to the glows plugs to cycle. Then turn it to on and crank. Right now I only have two relays. One for glow...

    New Holland side project

Made a steering wheel adapter and used up an old wheel had laying around for year. installed the radiator fill neck and overflow bottle. The overflow bottle was a cheap chinese universal and it fit perfectly in the factory spot. LOL i want underslung exhaust. same reason I took the ROPS...

    New Holland side project

Getting close to the end of this project for now at least. Need to get back on other things. Like swing set for the grandkids. LOL I still need to figure out lights. finish painting the rest of the tractor but honestly later. Not important. On the short term, I need an adapter to hook up...

wiper motor electrical... issues. =/ (1988 bronco 1)

Sounds like you have got it narrowed down in a hurry. Could be a couple wires melted together in the harness. Might find more than one. Do you CA guys need wipers?

    On going issues

Found a couple diagrams. Looks like it is a fusible link. Gray one. From this diagram it says it comes from the fuse box in the engine compartment. When previously they came directly from the starter solenoid. So to me, the first thing to check is power, all the time, at the yellow wire on...

    On going issues

You have a power supply , switch, or broken wire problem. I am trying to find a better wiring diagram but the starting circuit is as simple as the picture I posted. The yellow wire going to the ignition switch does not go to the battery it is usually hooked to the battery side of the...

Replace front seal on 4x4 electric locking hup

There is a snap ring hidden in the groove I marked. It is way down in there. I usually take some small straight blade ***** drivers to find the end and get the end pried out, then get behind it with an o-ring pic and pull it.

New Replacement Catalytic Converter check engine light on.

I am not the most knowledgeable on this one. I believe the O2 sensor has some input on engine controls so disabling it is not the best solution?

So it is like a high flow performance cat? that truck only has one o2 sensor right?

Engine and Transmission swap '88 5.0

I have never pulled engine and trans out of a bronco at the same time. For me it is probably about space and the cheap cherry picker I had. I don't trust the weight on it. Or getting the engine tipped just right. Also working in a garage with a fairly low ceiling and the broncos sit pretty tall...

    New Holland side project

I started pulling the operator station to clean things out, fix the steering column. One thing led to another. The steering wheel melted. that locked up the upper bearing in the column. But the rubber bushing around the bearing burnt out so it still spun freely. Started this project thinking...

    New Holland side project

Okay, I guess I have done a lot since I posted. Just for fun update. Been waiting on parts. I ended up with like 8 different suppliers with deliveries from this week until end of April. Finding parts for this is difficult. Came home to a flat tire last night. Kind of expected, they were dry...

    Hot and Squealing Alternator Belt

So it has to be the wrong alternator pulley right? A belt can sit flush with the top of the pulley but never out at all. At that point you are in theory losing contact area on the sides of the belt and wearing them out faster. Which you already knew. Can't remember all the details but years...

    Swapping axles

I don't see any problems with that at all. Should just be a bolt in swap and I agree it is easier to swap axles then center sections. Gives you a chance and new caster bushings, radius rod bushings. Nice refresh if needed.

    New Holland side project

That would be awesome. There are very few factory parts I need, but i will need them. I have a couple tractor salvage yards near me but little luck. Like the oil fill cap. Unavailable. Like what? Really? The oil fill cap is really hard to reach without the filler neck. Thought I could make my...

    On going issues

Oh don't get me started on shepherds LOL I had a black american and he was not a great shepherd but he was a great dog. Usually paired with a classic black and tan. Seems like I have not had good luck with them living long lately though. Both my sons have black shepherds right now. One son...

    On going issues

Was hoping someone else would step in. But they used to have a vacuum line running inside the cab to the brake pedal to cancel the cruise control. That could certainly be leaking but I honestly don't know if they had done away with that by 1993 or not. You can always pull the line from the...

    On going issues

To properly test it, You need to see if there is !2v with a test light on the little red wire on that solenoid while the key is held in the start position. Most likely that solenoid is bad. Sounds like there is a vacuum leak on the engine somewhere causing the high idle. Or at least that is...
