It’s a coil-over shock absorber which is a shock equipped with a coil spring. I have dual front shocks on my ‘96 EB Bronco and both are coil-over shocks. I ordered them and heavier progressive front springs to increase the Bronco’s front suspension capacity to accommodate my railroad wheel kit.
I have a great ‘96 EB (white) that I may sell soon. The rear seat is stored with the stock factory wheels & tires, bumpers, and other parts. My Bronco has a railroad wheel kit so if I sell it will be as a “hyrail” Bronco. Where are you located?

DB- i had to straighten the latch rod as it had a slight bend in it. If it remains bent, it won’t unlatch and won’t consistently latch. The springs were ok, but I cut and stretched the return spring to get more tension. I also tightened the latch handle bolt *slightly* and lubed the fiber...
Nice rebuild of the tire carrier. I sanded and repainted my ‘96 EB Bronco carrier in place. Tried to remove the corner bracket bolts but one broke so decided in place rehab worked for now. I keep all of the moving parts lubed with silicone spray. Going to sell my Bronco this year as retirement...
Thanks for the info on the tailgate torsion spring. I had the gate down today on my '96 EB Bronco and heard a very loud bang. When I tried to raise the tailgate it was suddenly MUCH heavier....
Jeff's Bronco Graveyard sells new torsion springs for $79.00 and they are made in the USA:
FORD...
I had an ABS light on my ‘96 EB Bronco and suspected the ABS pump assembly. I cross referenced it and ordered a used one on EBay from a Ford Explorer. It was an exact replacement update for my Bronco, was easy to install, immediately fixed the ABS problem, and the ABS light.

I checked the archives for any new posts on replacement glass for my 96 EB Bronco driver's side mirror with turn signals. My original mirror glass fell out and broke, but I have the pieces and the chevron on the rear of the mirror glass. I can remove it and apply it to a new mirror and use 3M...
I had a similar problem on my '96 EB Bronco. After rebuilding the drive line with new universals, I added a TrakLok LS rear and then realized the rear springs were the problem. Replaced them with a new set of HD springs and shackles and the problem disappeared.
Good question... I did work work for a major railroad but now am a railroad consultant so my Bronco is an important inspection tool.
Regarding the seats, are your Aerostar seats more comfortable than the stock Bronco seats? I have heard about Bronco owners installing newer seats from other Ford...
Fred -- thanks. I tried several local junk yards, online, etc but so far no good. I'll keep looking.
Certainly agree with your "Always Under Restoration" comment under the long list of work you did on your '83. The addition of an overhead console out of a '96 was a nice touch. I may try your...
I know the broken bucket seat armrest issue is tough to solve with new parts, but I was wondering if anyone had a source for new armrest brackets. My passenger seat fold-up arm rest bracket self-destructed so I am looking for a fix.
Thanks.

'96 EB Bronco with railroad "hyrail" wheel kit
My 96 Bronco developed rear ring and pinion whine and chatter that is getting worse. I'm considering replacing the rear axle with a similar axle with a TrakLok installed.
Anyone have a good source? Also, I could also swap the diff guts out with a limited slip, but does anyone have a...
