I'm lost, Can you provide some context for what your looking for. These vehicles are really basic but still come with lots of switches and buttons.

Sounds like the hazards or key release button. Will be interested to see photos.

Yo Rennie,
I assume, and I've assumed incorrectly at times, the "up/down switch" you're seeking is for the tailgate glass.
s-l640.jpg
It's on HVAC Control Panel, labeled "Rear Glass".

Fuse Panel is located inside the passenger compartment, on firewall, left of the steering column. Basically behind the e-brake..

Yo Rennie,
..If the glass is clear of the shell, but you can't open the t/g, remove the inside access panel & pull these 2 rods inward. Either unclip them from the center mechanism, or pull them like bow strings to release each latch.

Make sure the glass isnt so high that it engages the campers groove, or it could break. If it wont come down, unbolt the slides from the glass, or the motor from the regulator to lower the glass..." Miesk5 Note, the bars are referred to as the Latch Rods in most diagrams
Source: by Steve

More tips;
"Once you get it opened up and can get the tailgate latches to release, I suspect that there is a bind in the release. I had one that was all rusty and stuck. Lost of **** and a couple of hours later it was working just fine. Also, if it is sticky, pulling ******* the release handle will bend the interior tailgate handle."

"Chances are the torsion rod bracket is broke so the torsion rod is out of place and not allowing the window to go down the extra two inches to engage the pull rod for the latch.
I fixed this issue on mine by pulling the latch open as if the window pulled the latch rod down and ran a ***** through the gate keeping the latch mechanism open as if the window is always down,"

"mine wouldn't open one side and bareley would the other after to or three pulls. the rods where too long or something along those lines. I put a bend in the rods to shorten them down just a bit. worked right ever since."

Also;
Inspect glass weatherstrip for grime, lack of lubrication. Clean with water/Dawn mixture, then clean water.

Ford recommends, "Use Silicone Lubricant C0AZ-19553-AA (jelly) or D7AZ-19553-AA (spray) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M13P4-A on the door and window weatherstrips whenever necessary. Silicone lubricant helps avoid weatherstrip squeaks and retards excess weatherstrip wear from chafing between the glass and the weatherstrip. It also helps to retain glass alignment by reducing friction between the glass frame and the rubber weatherstrip.
miesk5 note, test the silicone on a regular styrofoam cup first; if the cup gets funky or melts, then the can or tube contans oil, a regular occurrence now, esp if from China.

More tg **** info:
Use Multi-Purpose Grease or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESR-M1C159-A and ESB-M1C106-B to lubricate door and tailgate hinges. Apply an even coat to all hinge pivot points as outlined in the maintenance schedules or when a binding or squeaking condition occurs..." I bought a can of Motorcraft
Multi-Purpose Grease @ Advance Auto

I use DuPont™ Non-Stick Dry Film Lubricant with Teflon™ on the flocked edges that hug the glass.

"Take off the TG access cover and spray Tri-Flow in the tracks on either side so the regulator toggles slide up and down easy" by our late friend here JKossarides.RIP friend..,

"The best grease for the slides & tracks is PTFE". by Steve

Is window regulator rusted badly? If so, clean & **** it with multi purpose grease.

Are Glass rollers ok?
Ensure that the motor is mounted properly to the back of the regulator.

Tailgate could be mis-aligned. Inspect gaps between each side of the tailgate and the quarter panels. If the tailgate is too high or low, the latch jaws will cut into the striker bushings, so inspect them.

Inspection, Alignment; Weatherstrip, Hinges, & Latch Striker Removal & Installation in 83-96 by Ford; "...Using a Torx® 50 bit, unscrew the door latch striker from the quarter latch pillar (28160). Installation; . Tighten the door latch striker to 40-50 Nm (30-37 lb-ft). See image @ http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/maint/stj/images/n12536a.gif
CAUTION: Do not cover up a poor alignment with a door latch striker adjustment. NOTE: The latch striker can be adjusted laterally and vertically as well as fore and aft. The door latch striker should not be adjusted to correct door sag. The door latch striker should be shimmed to get the clearance shown between the door latch striker and the front door latch. To check this clearance: Clean the front door latch jaws and the door latch striker area. Apply a thin layer of dark grease such as Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to the door latch striker.
