looking four advise iam thinking of instaling a clutch type pos in the front off my 79 bronco i was wondering if anybody else has one and what it is like driving on snowy roads thanks

Posi traction is just another word for a limited slip differential and should work OK. Unlike lockers, they do not keep 100% power to both wheels of an axle. They work more like an open differential in allowing one wheel to turn faster than the other when turning corners.

While I don't have one in the front of the 79, and I don't get to drive in snow, I have been searching for a good 'posi' or limited slip. You can go with the standard trac-Lok, which Ford used from the factory. The main problem with that type is strength, esp with larger tires. The best option I've come across is the Detroit True-trac, which is a gear-driven limited slip rather than using clutches that wear out.

Electrics are going to be your most expensive option by far, the only thing more expensive would be air lockers. The simpler lockers that can be installed without removing the diff are the cheapest, but also dont work as well as elect or air. WIth air there is in added expense of the air compressor and lines, and the lines can get damaged and you lose you locker. WIth the elect, there are external elect lines that are vulnerable.

The only bad thing about a posi in the front in the snow is your front end will have a tendancy to push when your turning.
